At Bridge House Hotel in Grasmere, subject to availability, you can make a bedroom preference or even select an individual hotel room when making a reservation. This can be very useful if you have special requirements, for example, for a bedroom on the ground floor, or a romantic four-poster, or perhaps a river view or garden view.

Room 1

a small double room on the ground floor. It has 3 steps up to its en-suite. It overlooks our car park, some gardens and a giant Cedar tree

a large Superior ground floor room which directly overlooks the River Rothay. It is ideal for guests who have difficulty with stairs

Room 3

very much like room 2, as they are next to each other. The foundations of the hotel arise directly from the river here, and you can hear the trickling water when the windows are open

Room 4

next to room 3, it has its own patio overlooking the river, so you can feed the ducks which regularly gather outside the hotel

Room 5

a small double on the first floor. Its view includes the village rectory on the opposite bank of the river, where Wordsworth once lived.

Room 7

is a large Superior room on the first floor. It is directly above room 2 and has fine views beyond the river up towards Helm Crag

Room 9

next to room 8 and overlooks the river and up to Silver Howe. It has two large windows with different aspects and a hand-carved king-sized 4 poster bed

Room 10

our largest room has two bay windows overlooking the garden. Room 10 has a king-sized four-poster bed and is a double or twin or family room depending on guest requirements

not in the hotel at all but in the Palace of Versaille near Paris! Did you honestly think we'd offer gold plated ceilings at our prices?! Needless to say it is never available so don't bother trying to book it!

Room 18

on the top floor up two flights of stairs. It has sloping ceilings and is full of character with splendid views. Rooms 18 and 19 are very popular choices

also on the top floor in what some guests call "the nutcracker suite"! This room is large with space for families and is part of an attic conversion, like room 18
